Built upon the serene balance and mental focus of Tai Chi, Kajukenbo Tum Pai enriches AHTD’s self-defense program with dynamic, street-focused intensity. This fluid, soft-style evolution of Kajukenbo artfully combines the powerful strikes of Karate, the strategic throws and grappling of Judo and Jiu-Jitsu, the precise flow of Kenpo, and the adaptable energy of Chinese Boxing (Kung Fu). Designed for real-world application, it enhances Tai Chi’s calm precision with a versatile skill set: forceful punches and kicks, intricate trapping, robust joint locks, controlled takedowns, and skilled weapon disarmament. Together with Tai Chi’s grounding principles, Kajukenbo Tum Pai empowers practitioners to respond to threats with poise and formidable technique.

Judo completes AHTD’s self-defense program by adding a vital ground game tailored for real-world street scenarios. This modern Japanese martial art focuses on powerful throws and sophisticated grappling techniques, enabling practitioners to control and subdue opponents with precision. Through leverage-based takedowns, pins, and submissions, Judo enhances our curriculum with practical, adaptable skills, rounding out your ability to handle close-quarters confrontations, especially on the ground.

Wayne Kent was a renowned international competitor in competitive Judo and a dedicated martial artist with over 60 years of experience. Transitioning from sports Judo to MMA in 1994, he developed a streetwise grappling approach tailored for real-world scenarios. Highly respected in the martial arts community, Wayne's legacy endures through his philosophy and techniques, which continue to be taught at our school following his passing in 2024.
